Overview

The owners of the serious beer drinkers bar, Spuyten Duyvil have transformed the auto-body shop across the street into a temple of all things pig. The industrial garage space is not only home to some of the best BBQ in the burrough, it also has an enormous array of bourbons and a carefully balanced selection of brews. The former are served to discerning patrons with thick chunks of ice with eye droppers of water on the side. The latter are server in sizes ranging from the 1/2 pint to the gallon.

Why You Should Go

  • The wood smoker and espresso sugar rub make for some of the best BBQ to be had in any burrough.
  • Big picnic tables, gallon sizes of beer, and easily shared BBQ make foran ideal place to gather to celebrate with a big group of friends.

What You Should Know

  • Fette Sau is German for "fat pig."
  • The sauce provided is not to everyone's taste, but it's perfectly acceptible practice to bring your own.
  • Seating is communal on picnic tables outside and in.
  • Beer is server in mason jars for the smallest size and glass gallon jugs for the largest.
  • The wood fired smoker fills the air with the smell of char, but those with easily irritated eyes may be better off sitting outside.
